Our Story

I've spent years writing advertising copy, taking on the minds of the markets my clients were intent on selling to.

Where I've been:

Tro
Troika Imagineering Works, where I started out my career working on intense B2B copy!

Don't Look Down: I did digital here, inclduing managing two websites for M-Net's bouquet of channels: ActionX and Channel GO (remember them?  If you do, you're too old, son!)

FCB, working on Toyota and the Vodacom accounts primarily, along with Emirates. Later at a small retail division of FCB where I moved from Vodacom Brand to Vodacom Retail. I also worked on the now defunct long-distance university UNISA. Evidentially,  the facility weren't too clued up on modern financial compliance.

Y&R: Telkom-based work and Pick n Pay - so a lot of retail.

I've also worked for an Ogilvy service-provider called RedWorks, where I did a lot of direct mailers, ads, and newsletters for the
Sun International Group.

And I spent time burning briefs at Joe Public (Ignite), where, amongst other things, I did plenty of radio advertising, and below-the-line. But we did do quite a lot of A/V scripts and print adverts.

Pre-Covid, I spent over a year and a half learning social media and content creation at FGX. And throughout the intervening years, I've also had the pleasure of working with other agencies and smaller companies, often project-based work.

I last had a proper contract for a year in 2022, spending that year working as a long-term freelancer for eTeacher. They're not, as you can imagine, an agency. They're actually a direct-to-consumer international company that has its own marketing division.

I spent a year there as per my contract, producing social media calendars with copy as well as writing blogs and other jobs that came up. Like writing emailers about stories from the Bible and what they really signify. I'm not saying I necessarily prescribe to this. In fact, for my time in advertising, I'm possibly going to Hell. But at least I keep the client happy.

But I never turn down a challenge, and always imagine myself in the client's position: what do they want to say that I can express a lot better? A lot. Because if it's one thing I've learned, people who think they can write, but aren't actually professional writers will lack a lot of technique that makes copy readable.

Also, I write for the pure joy of writing. If you're in need of a poet of prose, I can assist you proliferate your message, to help it hit home.
